While not every club member may have the goal of reaching the sport’s highest levels, Rush has developed a pathway for young athletes that spans recreation soccer all the way to the professional ranks.
The Rush Pyramid presents a visual representation of each step players need to reach in order to continue to climb, starting with a foundation of Rush’s core values. From there, players can advance through the Developmental and Competitive programs. Skilled and ambitious players will have opportunities to compete for Rush on regional Select teams as well as National teams.
If further development is warranted and desired, Rush has opportunities in the Girls Academy League and the WPSL for girls and in the MLS Next and USL League 2 for boys with Rush backed teams. Beyond that, Rush has partnerships with both men and women at the Danish HB Koge club and at the German Duisburg club.
“We are aware that not every player has aspirations of playing soccer professionally,” Rush President and CEO Tim Schulz said, “but we wanted to create a path for both boys and girls to travel down, no matter what their ultimate goal is. Our partnerships with European clubs benefit both coaches and players alike for development.”
Through aggressive scouting and recommendations from local club coaches, players can get noticed and selected to participate in tournaments that will improve their skills and development by facing higher levels of competition.
“The Rush Pyramid presents club members with a clear path unlike any we’ve had before,” Brandon Timlin said. “Instead of players exhausting the highest level of competition locally, they will now be able to continue their growth as players through events and tournaments that expose them to more rigorous competition.”
